Evelien Geerts (Ph.D.) is an interdisciplinary philosopher, a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Gender, Women’s Studies & Philosophy at University College Cork's Philosophy Department, where they are also the Program Director of the Women's Studies MA and PhD program. Geerts is also an affiliated researcher of the Posthumanities Hub & the Eco- and Bioart Lab (both at Linköping University) plus an Associate of the Posthumanism Research Institute (Brock University). Before joining UCC, Geerts was a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham.

Geerts’ research interests include critical posthumanist, new materialist, and Deleuzoguattarian approaches, the (post-)Anthropocene, political philosophical questions of identity, difference, violence, and justice, and critical and diffractive pedagogies. They have published in CounterText, Philosophy Today, Women’s Studies International Forum, and Rhizomes: Cultural Studies in Emerging Knowledge and recently co-edited special issues on “The Somatechnics of Violence” (Somatechnics: Somatechnics: Journal of Bodies – Technologies – Power, issue 1 & 2, 2024), “Dis/Abling Gender” (Tijdschrift voor Genderstudies, 2022), and “Gender, Sexuality, and Embodiment in Digital Spheres” (Journal of Digital Social Research, 2022)—publications that can be found at www.eveliengeerts.com & https://linktr.ee/egeerts.

Some of the topics Geerts has worked on so far: The importance of philosophy and critical pedagogies in times of crisis; the (post-)Anthropocene, the more-than-human, and ecological crisis; political violence & (counter)terrorism; (Belgian) far-right & alt-right politics, the political power of memes, and framing of gender "ideology" critiques; political (neo-)fascism; the state of women's & gender studies as an academic discipline; conceptualizations of identity & identity politics.
