Etienne Billette de Villemeur

Étienne Billette de Villemeur is Professor of Economics at the University of Lille and a researcher at LEM (CNRS).
His research examines how economic institutions can be designed for a world where our choices affect one another — across the energy transition and climate change, access to essential medicines, and the regulation of public services. He also contributes to the formal study of justice and fairness through social choice theory.
He has first-hand experience of the challenges facing developing countries through more than 15 years of collaboration with higher education institutions in Haiti, including through the Chaires Universitaires Toussaint Louverture.
He is also affiliated with UQAM in Canada, and his work regularly crosses into other disciplines, from life sciences to philosophy of science.
