Dr. Etheldreda Nakimuli-Mpungu is senior lecturer and psychiatric epidemiologist at Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS) in Kampala, Uganda.
Dr. Nakimuli-Mpungu completed her Master of Medicine in Psychiatry at MakCHS in 2006. In 2012, she attained a doctoral degree in psychiatric epidemiology from John’s Hopkins University, USA. This year, she was recognized for her work in using group support psychotherapy to treat depression in persons living with HIV and awarded the 2016 Elsevier Foundation Award for Early Career Women Scientists in the Developing World in Biological Sciences: Agriculture, Biology, Medicine. Previously, she has won the International Fulbright Science & Technology Award for her Doctoral studies (2007) and the International ASTRAZENECA/APIRE Young Minds in Psychiatry Award (2005) for demonstrating exceptional promise in mental health research.
