Esther Brito Ruiz is a PhD student at American University, specializing in genocide, gender, and sexuality. She is the co-editor of A Modern History of Forgotten Genocides and Mass Atrocities (2024), and a contributor to edited volumes, including Genocide Studies: Pathways Ahead (2024) and the forthcoming Routledge Handbook of Genocide Studies (2025). Her work has been published in various journals, including Civil Wars and Third World Quarterly, as well as in outlets like The Diplomat and Shuddhashar FreeVoice. She was a Faculty Fellow at the Institute for Genocide and Mass Atrocity Prevention, a Carl Menger Fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, and a Global Shaper with the World Economic Forum.
