Dr Eric Ruto is an applied economist and Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Lincoln (UK) Business School. He has over 20 years of international experience in research and University teaching. Prior to joining the University of Lincoln, he held academic positions at Newcastle University (UK), initially as a Postdoctoral Researcher and, subsequently, as a Lecturer in research methods, applied statistics and econometrics. He has also taught postgraduate courses at the University of Pretoria (South Africa) as a Visiting Lecturer.
Previously, Eric was a research economist at the Kenya Agricultural Research Institute (KARI), during which he earned a PhD scholarship to the UK through his collaborative research with the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). He holds a PhD in Agricultural Economics from Newcastle University (UK), which included a visiting scholarship at the University of Wisconsin (USA). He is also a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
Dr Ruto has research interests broadly in the areas of agriculture, food and resource economics and has expertise in quantitative research methods. He has published widely in international academic journals, including: Journal of Agricultural Economics; Ecological Economics; Journal of Environmental Planning & Management; Environmental Management; and Journal of Development and Agricultural Economics.
