Enrico Nichelatti

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Luxembourg in the department of Social Sciences. My primarily focus is on socio-economic inequality and poverty with a specific interest to the Global South.

I previously worked as a research assistant at the United Nations University World Institute of Development and Economics Research (Helsinki, Finland). I have been mainly responsible for analyzing African countries' social and tax benefit performances by applying sophisticated quantitative techniques. Indeed, I conducted quantitative analysis (using STATA and Excel) to investigate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing and potential social and tax policies in selected countries that are part of the SOUTHMOD project.

I also worked as a consultant for the University of Helsinki, International Centre for Tax and Development and Mo-Ibrahim Foundation.

I have officially graduated from my doctoral degree at the University of Helsinki (Finland) on the 25th November 2024 with the thesis "Taxation and Social Protection in the Global South: evidence from Sub-Saharan Africa).
