Emma Černis

Dr Emma Cernis is an HCPC-registered clinical psychologist. She is Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at the University of Birmingham, and Centre Lead of the Midlands Dissociation & Depersonalisation Centre.

Dr Cernis (pronounced "Chur-niss") has over a decade of research experience in complex mental health presentations. Emma's research specialism is the understanding dissociative experiences such as depersonalisation and 'felt sense of anomaly' dissociation, particularly across diagnostic boundaries and within young people. Her research aims to develop new psychological treatments for dissociation, and to improve clinician confidence working with dissociative presentations.
