Emilie is actively involved in collaborative cross-cultural ecological research that informs local to national decision making about Australia's natural and cultural resource management. She works in close collaboration with a number of Aboriginal Ranger groups and communities from around Australia, mainly in Arnhem Land and NSW, to develop cross-cultural environmental monitoring techniques and restoration of wetlands, biodiversity, bush foods and other biocultural values. She is currently an ARC Future Fellow, co-leads the Wuyagiba Bush Uni with Elders from south east Arnhem Land and leads the vibrant Cross-cultural Ecology, Education and Restoration Lab at Macquarie University.
