  • Researcher - Engineering & evaluation of participatory water governance, Cirad

Emeline Hassenforder is a researcher in engineering and evaluation of participatory processes in the field of water and territorial governance. She supports decision-makers in their reflection on the strategies and methods to be used to involve citizens and other stakeholders in decision-making related to water and natural resources management. Since 2012, Emeline has contributed to the development of CoOPLAGE, a set of complementary participatory tools designed to meet the needs of stakeholders to support socio-environmental transitions. Her research questions include endo-evaluative participation (how to assess the impact of participatory processes while minimizing methods dedicated to evaluation), modeling as a boundary process (how to use modeling as a support to structure territorial governance processes) and innovation and experience (how emotion, debate, art, experience or conflict can foster the emergence of innovations). Emeline is currently working in Tunisia. She has extensive international experience: in Europe (France, Italy, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland as a post-doc), in Africa (Uganda and Ethiopia as a PhD) and on transboundary basins in 35 countries. Before joining academia, Emeline worked at the OECD (Water Governance Program) and created her consulting company, Oxyo Water.
