- Assistant professor, University of Birmingham
Emeka Thaddues Njoku is an Assistant Professor in the International Development Department, School of Government at the University of Birmingham, UK and an Associate Editor of the Journal of Intervention and Statebuilding. His research sits at the intersection of conflict, counter-terrorism, and non-state governance, with a particular focus on the global counter-terrorism regime and its implications for civil society spaces, agency, and resistance. He also examines the gendered and sexual dimensions of counter-terrorism laws, policies, and practices—especially in African contexts. Dr. Njoku’s work has been published in leading journals including International Affairs, Studies in Conflict & Terrorism, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and VOLUNTAS: International Journal of Voluntary and Nonprofit Organisations. He is also the co-author of a book published by Manchester University Press.
