Emanuele is a Medical Research Council fellow in Biostatistics at the Lancaster Medical School. After completing his MSc in Statistics at the University of Padua, Italy, he joined the Centre for Health Informatics, Computing and Statistics at Lancaster University, where he studied for a PhD in geospatial statistical methods with applications to disease mapping under the supervision of Prof Peter Diggle.
His research interest is in the spatial epidemiology of tropical diseases and he has published work on malaria, plague, river-blindness and Loa loa. His current projects relate to the development of novel geostatistical techniques to combine data from multiple surveys, model spatially-structured zero inflation and carry out integrated analysis at multiple spatial scales. Since March 2016 he is also a lecturer at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences.
