Dr Elizabeth Streten is a lecturer at the Queensland University of Technology, where she obtained her LL.B with honours, LL.M and Ph.D. Her doctorate thesis was empirical in nature, being a phenomenological consideration of the difficulties faced by corporate insolvency practitioners in adhering to legal and ethical regulatory standards. Prior to her academic career, Elizabeth practiced as a lawyer for over a decade in Australia, admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and High Court of Australia.
Elizabeth is an active member of INSOL International: she is a sub-committee member of the INSOL Early Researcher Academic Group and of the INSOL Student Newsletter Editorial Committee. Elizabeth’s research interests relate to the regulation of insolvency: they include the theoretical underpinnings of corporate insolvency law and cross-border insolvency, the regulation and professional identity of insolvency practitioners, residential construction insolvency, local government insolvency, and the consideration of sustainability, globalisation, deprofessionalisation and artificial intelligence and their interaction with insolvency practice.
