- Senior Research Fellow, UNSW
Elizabeth Harris is a Senior Research Fellow in the Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity. She was founding Director of the Centre for Health Equity, Training, Research and Evaluation at Liverpool in south western Sydney from 2000 to 2011. Originally trained as a social worker and teacher, she has worked as a clinician, health service manager, tertiary educator and public health researcher. Her principle research interest is in better understanding and intervening to address health inequity. The specific foci of her work include unemployment and health, child health, interventions in disadvantaged communities and the promotion of healthy public policy especially through equity focused health impact assessment (HIA). She is currently convenor of the global working group in HIA for the International Union of Health Promotion and Education (IUPHE). She is co-author of “Theory in a Nutshell” an introduction to major health promotion theories and has recently co-authored two chapters in books on Health Impact Assessment.
