Elissa is a political geographer and lecturer in Human Geography at Monash University’s School of Social Sciences. Her research explores the social and political dimensions of climate change adaptation and disaster governance in Australia and the Pacific. She has over 15 years of experience advising state, national, and Pacific governments on climate adaptation policy, with a particular focus on sea-level rise and coastal management. Elissa is currently a Chief Investigator on the National Environmental Science Program’s Climate Systems Hub project Enabling Best Practice Adaptation in Australia.
