Dr. Elena Merenda is the Associate Head of Early Childhood Studies at the University of Guelph-Humber and the founder of Children’s Healing Studio Ltd. She brings over 25 years of experience working across early learning, postsecondary, and therapeutic settings, with a specialization in children’s mental health, grief, and inclusive education.

At the university level, Dr. Merenda leads curriculum development, faculty mentorship, and student engagement in the ECS program, while also advancing initiatives in child and family well-being. Her academic background includes a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Studies from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western University.

Through Children’s Healing Studio Ltd., Dr. Merenda provides grief-informed services for children and families, integrating therapeutic play and emotional coaching to support healing after loss. Her work bridges research and practice—grounded in developmental science and led with compassion.
