Eleanor is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations at Monash University and the Director of Monash Global Peace and Security (Monash GPS), a research hub connecting global scholars, practitioners and policymakers to advance innovative and transformative approaches to global peace and security challenges. She has 25 years of professional experience as a scholar and practitioner addressing challenges to building security and justice after conflict, including over a decade working in UN peace operations. Her research investigates how to improve the success rate of peacebuilding and peacekeeping, with a specific focus on addressing barriers to women’s meaningful participation and, especially, caring responsibilities as a driver of women’s underrepresentation.
