Ekaterina Ovsyanikova

(she/her)

I am a marine ecologist with expertise in marine mammals, bioacoustics, coastal ecology, spatial ecology, polar ecology, citizen science and animal behaviour. I used to work in the Arctic and the Antarctic studying the ecology of sea otters and Antarctic killer whales. I have completed my PhD at the University of Queensland, studying bottlenose dolphin acoustic communication. Recently, I have been working in Moreton Bay (Queensland) and the Great Barrier Reef, mapping benthic habitats, specifically, seagrass meadows, an important blue carbon habitat. I am very passionate about science communication and conservation, and I have been involved in several citizen science projects both in Australia and worldwide, including Science Under Sail Australia.
