EJ Renold is Professor in Childhood Studies at the School of Social Sciences, Cardiff University. She is the author of ‘Girls, Boys and Junior Sexualities’ (2005), Children, Sexuality and Sexualisation’ (with Ringrose and Egan, 2015) 'Creative Research Methods on Gender and Sexuality with Children and Young people' (Forthcoming 2025 with Huuki, Pikhala and Taylor) and the co-editor of the book series ‘Routledge Critical Studies in Gender and Sexuality in Education’.
EJ's research, engagement and activism explores how gender and sexuality intra-act and come to matter in children and young people’s everyday lives across diverse sites, spaces and locales. Here they have explored the affordances of co-productive, creative and affective methodologies to engage social and political change with young people in the broad field of relationships and sexuality education (see www.agendaonline.co.uk)
EJ was the winner of the UK’s ESRC Impact in Society Prize (2018) and the Huw Owen Medal for Outstanding Educational Research in Wales (2021). EJ is also the co-convenor of the British Education Research Association, Sexualities and Gender Special Interest Group (SIG).
