Effie Karageorgos

Effie Karageorgos is a Senior Lecturer in History at the University of Newcastle, working on the broad themes of psychiatry, violence, gender, war and protest.

She is Treasurer of the History Council of New South Wales and Editor of the official journal of the Australia and New Zealand Society for the History of Medicine, Health and History.

Her co-edited book Critical Mental Health in Aotearoa New Zealand: Social and History Perspectives will be published by Palgrave in April 2025.

She is currently writing a history of quiet protest in New South Wales during the Vietnam War for University of New South Wales Press, to be published in 2026.
