Outside a host, a virus sits there and doesn't do much! It is only once inside a suitable host (like you...) that it can multiply to generate more copies of itself. My research looks at which bits of an infected cell are required for various viruses to replicate, as well as how your body defends itself against infection. I'm particularly interested in norovirus (winter vomitting disease) and have previously worked on coronaviruses, influenza and others. I am currently a postdoctoral scientist at the Northeastern University, and previously worked at the University of Cambridge and Imperial College London.
