Dr Edin Whitehead is a research fellow and research assistant in the Integrative Biology Lab working with Associate Professor Brendon Dunphy on the conservation ecophysiology of seabirds. She is also the Project Co-ordinator of The Seabird Trust and facilitates research, conservation monitoring, and advocacy for seabirds in the region. Edin's research is focused on improving the utility of conservation monitoring by taking a physiological approach to understand how seabirds adapt their behaviours to cope with increasing climate impacts on marine ecosystems. Her current research projects involve understanding the energetic costs of breeding for seabird populations in order to determine their resilience to ongoing environmental change. For the past eight years she has worked largely in field-based research on offshore islands from the subtropics to the subantarctic.
