Ed Gasson is a Senior Lecturer and holds a Royal Society University Research Fellowship in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences on the University of Exeter’s Cornwall Campus. He received his PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Bristol. His work uses computer models of ice sheets and climate, with a focus on how the ice sheets have caused sea level to change in the past and how they may change in the future. He collaborates with researchers from around the world who generate paleoclimate data which is used to test and improve computer models. His research spans geological intervals over the past 34 million years, with current projects focused on the Oligocene, Miocene, Pliocene and the last interglacial. Ultimately his work aims to improve future sea level projections.
