Dr Dzavid Haveric is an Adjunct Research Fellow, Historian and Author at the Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation, Charles Sturt University. He is a leading expert on history of Islam and Muslims in Australia. He is also an Honourary Associate at the Melbourne Museum. He is the author of 14 books.

Dr Haveric holds a MA (Cultural History) from the School of Middle Eastern Language and Culture Studies, Deakin University (2004), and a PhD (Humanities) from the Institute for Community, Ethnicity and Policy Alternatives, Victoria University (2009). Dr Haveric’s research interests include Muslim social history, Islamic history and civilisation, Australian Muslim identities, Sufism and interfaith dialogue, cultural-religious diversity, multiculturalism and cosmopolitanism.

He worked as a Reporter at the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) Radio Program for the Bosnian Community and as a Journalist for Bosnian community newspapers. Dr Haveric worked as a Project Officer and Program Assistant at the Parliament of the World’s Religions within the Victorian Multicultural Commission. He was a Research Assistant and Project Worker at the Institute for Community, Ethnicity and Policy Alternatives, Victoria University. As a Research Associate at the Victoria Museum he contributed to the Museum’s collections, including Muslims in Australia: Image and Story Collection. As an Honourary Associate at the Melbourne Museum he is contributing to new project on Australian Muslim military personnel: Image and Story Collection. He is also a member of Charles Sturt University’s Centre for Religion, Ethics and Society.

Dr Haveric is a researcher for almost thirty years. He has written widely and influentially. He is the author of fourteen books, including 'Muslims making Australia home: immigration and community building' (2019) and 'History of Islam and Muslims in Australia' (2019). His recent book is A History of Muslims in the Australian Military from 1885 to 1945: Loyalty, Patriotism, Contribution' (2024). He has also written a number of academic articles, numerous reports and community newspaper articles.

In 2023, Dr Haveric received Australian Muslim Achievements Awards (Annual AMAA ): Australian Muslim Professional of the year.
