Dr Duncan Wallace is a Lecturer at Monash University in the Faculty of Law. He teaches mainly Trusts Law and Corporations Law in the LLB and JD degrees, and is an active member of the Monash Centre for Commercial Law and Regulatory Studies (CLARS). His background is in law, philosophy and economics, and his main research interests concern social groups – their ontological nature, recognition in law, and role in economy and society. His doctoral thesis, titled The Organic Theory of the Corporation, was awarded the prestigious 2024 Mollie Holman Award, and is to be published as a book with Cambridge University Press.
Prior to joining Monash, Duncan worked in the co-operatives and mutuals sector, both as a consultant and in full-time roles. He retains a strong interest in co-operatives law and policy, and is a member the International Co-operatives Alliance’s Young & Emerging Scholars Network on Cooperative Studies.
