Dr Peet van Aardt

Lecturer and researcher in the Centre for Teaching and Learning at the University of the Free State. Former Head of the university's undergraduate writing centre.

After having worked in journalism for a decade (among other positions as the Community & Africa Editor of News24), I got the opportunity to lecture at the UFS, where I established the Initiative for Creative African Narratives (iCAN).

I am a Mellon funded scholar, alumnus of the National Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as of the US State Department's SUSI programme (University of Louisville, Kentucky; 2016 class).

My PhD is in Creative Writing and I have published two books. My focus areas of research include Academic Literacy, Decolonisation and Academic Writing.
