- Senior Researcher, University of Cape Town
I am a very late academic. My background is in activism - I ran the AIDS Consortium for 9 years. Then I managed the CIPRA collaborative HIV research projects and decided to study public health, starting in 2005. I was awarded my Masters in Public Health in 2007, the first person to do so without an undergraduate degree. In 2014 I was awarded my PhD on the South African antiretroviral therapy programme.
My current work focuses on growing the capacity to produce high-quality, African-led research. My advocacy/research interest is the invisibility of men's health in HIV care and in public health more broadly.
