Dr Maria Vieira is a Lecturer in the School of Education at Adelaide University. She holds a PhD in STEM and a Master’s degree in the Psychology of Creativity. As a member of the Centre for Change and Complexity in Learning (C3L), her research focuses on creativity, human–AI collaboration, and gender equity, with a particular emphasis on STEM fields where women remain underrepresented. This work aligns with Adelaide University’s Signature Research Theme, Creative and Cultural Strategy, and has generated impact in both theory and practice through partnerships with schools, industry, and museum spaces.
She has published multiple first-author articles in leading journals across the fields of creativity and education. Her work has also attracted international media attention and contributed to broader discussions on equity and innovation in education.
At Adelaide University, she leads major initiatives in course coordination, curriculum development, and outreach, including the STEM Girls Academy. In this role, she helps deliver programs that engage hundreds of school students each year while building strong partnerships with industry leaders to create meaningful, real-world learning experiences.
She is also contributing to curriculum development at the new Adelaide University, where she is playing a central role in the design of one of its flagship common core courses, Igniting Change: Ideas to Action.
Across research, teaching, and public engagement, Dr Vieira communicates her work in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, extending its reach and helping drive positive change in education locally and globally.
