Dr Ayoade Onireti

Dr. Ayoade Onireti is a legal academic with interdisciplinary interests spanning international law and human rights, criminal law, tort law, counterterrorism and civil liberties, sports law, and comparative constitutionalism. He holds a PhD in International Law and Human Rights from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), where his doctoral research examined the impact of counterterrorism legislation on civil and political rights in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. Dr. Onireti is also a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and began his legal career practicing in both public and private sectors across Nigeria and the UK, including at DWF Solicitors in Manchester3. His professional experience informs his academic work, which is grounded in real-world legal challenges and global justice concerns. He has taught a wide range of undergraduate law modules at institutions including the University of Central Lancashire, the University of Salford, and the University of Bolton, and has supervised postgraduate dissertations at the University of Suffolk. His teaching portfolio includes Land Law, Equity & Trusts, Human Rights Law, and Public Law. Dr. Onireti’s recent scholarship focuses on the intersection of human rights, state responsibility, and social justice, particularly in the context of counterterrorism, civil and political rights, and the evolving legal frameworks in Europe and sub-Saharan Africa. He currently serves as a Senior Lecturer and LLM Programme Lead at the School of Law, Greater Manchester Business School, University of Bolton
