Douglas Hilton

(He/Him)

Dr. Douglas Hilton is Chief Executive of CSIRO and from 2009 to 2023 was Director of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute.

Hilton's medical research aimed to understand which of the 25,000 genes are important in the production and function of blood cells and how this information can be used to better prevent, diagnose and treat blood cell diseases such as leukaemia, arthritis and asthma. Outside of work, Hilton studies Australian moths and has published a number of papers describing new taxa.
