Dr. Doudjo Noufou OUATTARA holds a Master's degree in Biology (Biodiversity and Systematics) from the University of Geneva (Switzerland) and a PhD in Natural Sciences, specializing in Forestry from the University NANGUI ABROGOUA in Côte d'Ivoire, completed in 2017. He is an Associate Professor (Maître de Conférences) in this university.
Affiliations
Research Associate at the Centre Suisse de Recherches Scientifiques en Côte d'Ivoire (CSRS), he is in charge of the Domaine d'Activité Principale (DAP) Biodiversité Végétale et Bioproductions since January 2020, within the Biodiversité Végétale et Bioproductions research group. He regularly presents the results of this research in symposiums and conferences around the world.
Experiences and areas of expertise
Dr. Doudjo is fluent in French and English. He is one of the first specialists in the botanical family of palms (Arecaceae) in Africa. Dr. Doudjo has been very active since 2013 in several action research projects related to species of this family. He has walked the trails of many countries such as Ghana or Djibouti, to study these plants. He is strongly involved in the project "Palmiers Solidaires" in Divo, in particular in the setting up of the Palm Garden. He is the regional coordinator of a West African project on palms (MULTIPALMS project), implemented in Benin, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana. A member of the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) Palm Specialist Group, Dr. Doudjo is also involved in the conservation of threatened species. He conducts research on species such as Aubregrinia taiensis (critically endangered), Chrysophyllum azaguieanum (endangered) or Tieghemella heckelii (endangered). Since October 2020, he is registered on the list of aptitude for the functions of Master Assistant of the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES). He is a member of the technical committee of the Institute of Administrators of Côte d'Ivoire (INADCI) as part of the implementation of the green plan of this structure.

Dr. Doudjo OUATTARA is the author and co-author of about twenty scientific and popularization publications published in various peer-reviewed journals such as PALMS, ADANSONIA, ARCHIVES DES SCIENCES or WEBBIA, in the fields of palmology, forestry, agroforestry, conservation and environmental education.
