I research the cultural industries in the UK, Japan, and wider East Asia, working on how experiences and ideals of youth are mediated through multimedia and through transnational connections. I have expertise in idols, Japanese media mix virtuality (VTubers, idol simulation games), and in child performer safeguarding in England and Japan.
