Associate Prof Derya Iner is a lecturer and research coordinator at the Centre for Islamic Studies and Civilisation, Charles Sturt University. Derya served as the chief investigator and author of Islamophobia in Australia Reports I-IV (2017-2023) and the Deputy Chair of the Islamophobia Register Australia (2014-2023). Derya sits at the anti-Discrimination Board NSW. Her research focuses on Islamophobia, especially women's and children’s experience with Islamophobia as a form of racism and hate crime, Western Muslim Youth, and the formation of ethno-religious identity.

Derya completed her Ph.D. in Cultural Studies (major) and Gender Studies (minor) in Wisconsin-Madison (USA) in 2011.
