Deborah comes from a microbiology background with expertise in bacterial genetics, specifically surrounding antibiotic resistance.
Research interests include molecular microbiology, genetics, and synthetic biology. Specific interests are the underlying genetic mechanisms of how antibiotic resistance genes are dispersed through the environment, and exploring how synthetic biology can help tackle issues that have arisen as a result of climate change.
