Deborah Brown

Research Interests: Critical Thinking, Philosophy of Mind and Early Modern Philosophy.

As Director, of the UQ Critical Thinking Project, Professor Brown conducts professional learning and research and evaluation related to critical thinking for educators and leadership. Current research collaborations include co-inquiry research with schools and departments of education, the Australian Federal Police, and Queensland Police Service. Professor Brown is also a cofounder of UQ's first Neurophilosophy Lab (with Professor Brian Key, School of Biomedical Sciences) and a member of UQ's Centre for Innovation in Pain Health Research (CIPHeR), dedicated to 'cracking the code' on pain. Professor Brown has also made substantial contributions to Early Modern Philosophy, with multiple books and articles on the transformations of philosophical and scientific thought in the 17th and 18th centuries.
