I am a Research Fellow in Palaeobiology at the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences of the University of Birmingham (UK) and currently based at the Department of Geosciences of Virginia Tech (USA). I am associate researcher with the National Museums Scotland (UK). I worked as a Research Fellow at the National Museum Scotland and prior to this position, I completed a PhD at the University of Edinburgh (UK), a MSc in Palaeobiology at the University of Bristol (UK), and a BSc in Geological Sciences at the University of Pisa (Italy).

I am interested in macroevolution of Mesozoic terrestrial and marine tetrapods and their assemblages. My work investigates the anatomy, systematics and biomechanics, and role in their habitats of a variety of Triassic and Jurassic reptile groups. My goal is to understand the diversity, composition and structure of past ecosystems through time, including in response to environmental changes, and biotic events.
