- Senior Research Scientist at the Australian E-Health Research Centre, CSIRO
I am a computer scientist, researcher and former radio scientist. I am now a Senior Research Scientist at the Australian E-Health Research Centre. Here I work with speech & occupational therapists and other clinicians in realising technology interventions that have gone on to win national awards in research & development.
Reportedly a "legend in chatbots for health" (definitely exaggerated) I do or have done research on a broad range of issues of technology solutions for chronic pain, opioid tapering, autism spectrum disorder, smoking cessation, Parkinson's disease, dementia and genetic counselling.
I am a proponent for artificial general intelligence research particularly on 'intelligent' agents that make decisions and form beliefs with limited knowledge and resources. I explore the intersection of philosophy, psychology, logic and computer science on how such agents can make ethical decision-making and grapple with the same issues humans do.
I am a beekeeper, rare book collector, and currently learning Latin.
