David hails from the Great Southern region of Western Australia. He completed a BEc.(Hons.) degree at Murdoch University in 1995, and from 1996-2004 worked as a Regional Economist with the Western Australian Department of Agriculture investigating all manner of invasive species issues. During this period David completed a PhD with The University of Western Australia’s School of Agricultural and Resource Economics (1999-2001), and worked as a postdoctoral research assistant at Imperial College London (2003-2004). In 2005 he took up a Research Economist position with CSIRO Ecosystem Sciences in Canberra, and a visiting fellowship with The Australian National University’s Fenner School of Environment and Society.
