Dariush Zare is working as a Senior Researcher in the Centre for Food Innovation, College of Sciences and Engineering. He is now focusing on an advanced food industry project entitled "Digital Twin of an Industrial Scale Microwave-Assisted Thermal Sterilization (MATS) System". His primary role is to develop the multi-physics process simulation using finite element analysis in COMSOL Multiphysics. The other targe is the application of machine learning and AI to control process optimisation in real time. In collaboration with industry partners and other institutions, he works to advance Industry 4.0-driven food processing technologies.
Biography

He is working as a Senior Research Fellow in the Center for Food Innovation. Before joining to the University of Tasmania he worked as a Professor in the Department of Mechanics of Biosystems Engineering at Shiraz University.

Based on his experience in teaching and research, he has expertise in engineering design including process simulation (heat and mass transfer), applied thermodynamics, and application of different numerical methods (Finite difference method, Finite Element Methods, CFD) for system design and optimization. He has extensively designed and developed new technologies in food and bioprocessing such as plasma, RF, infrared, ultrasonic, microwave and solar thermal systems as well as different grain dryers, handling and storage systems.
He has supervised 20 master theses and five Ph.D. dissertations and have over 100 publications in top peer-reviewed journals and international world conferences.
He is currently a board member of Technical Section IV (Energy) of the CIGR, one of the world’s leading professional bodies in Biosystems Engineering.
He also serves on the Editorial Board of the top-tier Q1 Elsevier journal, "Biosystems Engineering".
