Dr. Daria Mottareale (DM) has developed a solid and steadily growing academic career, reflected both in her scientific output and in her participation in national and European research projects. According to Google Scholar, she holds an H-index of 5 and has authored more than ten articles published in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR). Her research has gained increasing recognition within the academic community: in the past five years alone, her work has been cited over fifty times, averaging around ten citations per year, and her total number of citations now exceeds one hundred.
Since 2019, Dr. Mottareale has played an active role in four competitive research projects at both the national and European level, which together have secured more than €150,000 in funding. The results of this activity are documented in her peer-reviewed publications (listed in section C1) and in her ORCID profile.
Her research trajectory can be understood as a progression through several interrelated lines of inquiry. Between 2017 and 2019, she investigated the internationalization of higher education in Italy, examining the strategies, opportunities, and challenges associated with university mobility and transnational cooperation. From 2020 to 2022, her focus shifted to Spain, where she explored the manipulation of public opinion on Twitter during the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to the broader debate on digital communication, misinformation, and its societal implications.
In parallel, since 2014 she has been deeply engaged in projects on teaching innovation and the improvement of educational quality across different universities, with a particular interest in student-centered learning approaches and the assessment of pedagogical practices. Her academic commitment also extends to mentoring: since 2018, she has supervised numerous undergraduate and master’s theses in the field of education, ensuring that students acquire both methodological rigor and the ability to apply theoretical frameworks to real-world educational contexts.
A further strand of her work, developed since 2015, concerns the study of supranational educational policies and their comparison with European systems. In this area, Dr. Mottareale has analyzed how educational reforms are designed and implemented, with a special focus on equity in higher education, the promotion of international mobility, and the enhancement of teaching quality.
Taken together, these lines of inquiry reflect a coherent research agenda that combines the study of educational policy, digital society, and pedagogical innovation. Since 2019, her involvement in multiple European and national projects has consolidated her expertise in higher education, particularly regarding equity, mobility, and the advancement of effective and inclusive teaching practices.
