• Senior Lecturer in Accounting/Financial Accounting - Sheffield University Management School, University of Sheffield

I am a researcher in accounting and corporate governance at a Russell Group university in the United Kingdom (University of Sheffield), specialising in public financial management, institutional resilience and governance in developing country contexts. My current work examines how public institutions and state-owned enterprises navigate accountability, financial pressures and reform, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa.
I have conducted extensive field-based research on corporate governance and state capacity in Africa, including studies of Kenyan state-owned enterprises and the implementation of governance reforms such as the Mwongozo Code. I also work on comparative governance and resilience issues across African economies, with recent research focusing on how governments manage fiscal and institutional shocks during crises such as pandemics and epidemics.
My broader research agenda connects accounting, governance, and public policy, with an emphasis on how institutions can build resilience under conditions of fiscal constraint, uncertainty and repeated systemic shocks.
