Danny Haelewaters is a mycologist focused on understudied groups of fungi in understudied fungi, with fieldwork experience around the globe, including in Brunei, Costa Rica, Honduras, Iceland, Malaysia, Mozambique, Panama, and the USA. He is Head of the Laboratory of Fungal Ecology and Evolution at the Biology Centre of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Institute of Entomology in Ceske Budejovice, and visiting professor at Ghent University.
