Dr. Kim received a PhD in Religious Ethics from the University of Chicago and an MPH in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Yale University. He was a 2021-22 fellow of the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at the University of Chicago. His research examines ethical issues by attending to basic questions of self, community, and culture, specifically issues in clinician moral distress, end-of-life care, ethics education, health justice, and religion and medicine. His recent works have been published in the Hasting Center Report, American Journal of Bioethics, Journal of Religion and Health, Journal of Intensive Care Medicine, and Teaching and Learning in Medicine.
