Dan Haines is an environmental historian, focusing on earthquakes and water in twentieth century India, Pakistan and the South Asia region. He writes and speaks about environmental and South Asian affairs via policy forums, television and radio. He is the author of two books, Rivers Divided (2017) and Building the Empire, Building the Nation (2013). More recently he has worked collaboratively with physical scientists, social scientists and practitioners on disaster risk reduction. Dan served as a UKRI-funded research fellow at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office from 2021-23, and now co-leads the India and South Asia Analysts Network (www.insaan.org.uk).
