Dafni Lima

Dr Dafni Lima is an Assistant Professor in Law, Durham Law School, where she teaches family law and human rights, often from a comparative perspective. Her research focuses on parenthood and parental responsibility, assisted reproduction and cross-border recognition of families. She is currently a Co-Convenor of the Family Law Section of the Society of Legal Scholars and has previously served on the Steering Committee of Cambridge Reproduction at the University of Cambridge. Dafni is interested in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research and has completed a NIHR School for Public Health Research (SPHR)-funded Transdisciplinary Placement in public health with Fuse and the Population Health Sciences Institute at Newcastle University, working on a large-scale empirical project that examines barriers to maternity care for vulnerable pregnant women and people living on low incomes. Among other activities, Dafni has been a Visiting Researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, Germany, a Fulbright Visiting Researcher at the Harvard Initiative on Law & Philosophy at Harvard Law School, and a Visiting Professor at Mackenzie University in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She is currently an invited UK national expert for an international comparative parenthood project led by the Nordic Centre for Comparative and International Family Law (NorFam) at Aalborg University, Denmark, and an invited guest lecturer at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) in Barcelona, Spain.
