Curwyn Mapaling (PhD), a professor of psychology at the University of Johannesburg and a registered clinical psychologist, integrates psychological principles into education. His research, focusing on mental health and well-being in higher education, combines theory with practice. He is Co-Editor-in-Chief of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning in the South. Honoured as a Mandela Rhodes Scholar, Abe Bailey Fellow and one of Mail & Guardian's "200 Young South Africans" in Education (2024), he received the 2022 Alumni Rising Star Award from Nelson Mandela University.
