Cristiano Barbosa de Moura

Dr. Cristiano Barbosa de Moura is an assistant professor in the Faculty of Education at Simon Fraser University. From 2015 to 2023, he was a professor EBTT at the Celso Suckow da Fonseca Federal Center for Technological Education (CEFET/RJ), where he served as a professor and advisor in the Graduate Program in Science, Technology, and Education (CEFET/RJ) and as a teacher of Integrated/Vocational High School. He holds a bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (cum laude) and a master's and doctorate in Science, Technology, and Education from CEFET/RJ. He served as associate editor for Brazilian journals and guest editor for special issues of latin american and international journals on science education and now is the editor-in-chief of the journal Science & Education (Springer). He recently edited the book "A Sociopolitical Turn in Science Education," published by Springer in 2024. His research interests include: Science Education; History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Science in Education; Cultural History of Science; Sociopolitical Issues in Science Education; Curriculum Theories; and Postcolonial and Decolonial Studies in Science Education.
