I am a Mathematics Education consultant whose primary passion is mathematics teacher professional development. I want to be where it really counts in designing and delivering high quality maths professional development and then investigating the impact it has on improving teachers' knowledge, their classroom practice and, ultimately, their learners' attainment.

Having spent 25 years at the University of the Witwatersrand leading initiatives in pre-service and in-service mathematics teacher education, I am now drawing on the fruits of that work yet I continue to learn new things and grapple with old things every day. This is all part of building the next generation of mathematics teacher educators - to work with, to learn with and to learn from.

I am a qualified maths teacher, and taught maths and IT in local secondary schools. I completed my PhD at Wits in the teaching and learning of financial mathematics (at school level) in 2013. I was an Associate Professor in Mathematics Education when I left Wits.
