Craig is a lecturer and researcher in screen studies with the Department of Film, Games and Animation at Swinburne University of Technology. His research focus combines interests in the fields of childhood studies, cultural studies, film history, gender, and horror. He is the current chief editor of the open access peer-reviewed Journal of Children in Popular Culture (JOCPC) and serves on the advisory board for the Children and Youth in Popular Culture series for Lexington Books.

In 2024 he co-edited a collection titled The Undead Child: Representations of Childhoods Past, Present, and Preserved, published through Routledge, and has contributed chapters to other edited collections. Among them are Misfit Children: An Inquiry into Childhood Belongings (Lexington), Children in the Films of Alfred Hitchcock (Palgrave), Kid Power! (Spectacular Optical), and Il Grande “Incubo che mi son Schelto” (Edizioni Il Foglio): a collection of essays celebrating the 40th anniversary of Dario Argento’s Profondo Rosso (1975). He has also published research in journals: Media Practice and Education, Senses of Cinema, Screening the Past, Red Feather, and Diabolique Magazine.

Craig occasionally contributes written and commentary tracks to Blu-Ray/4K releases by boutique film labels. This includes a booklet essay for Arrow Films’ box set of Stephen King’s Children of the Corn trilogy, a video essay co-authored with Alexandra Heller-Nicholas on Italian actor Nicoletta Elmi included in the release of Footprints (Bazzoni 1975) for Severin Films’ House of Psychotic Women: Rarities Collection, and a feature-length audio commentary performing close textual analysis of Wes Craven's The People Under the Stairs (1991) for a trio of Craven films released by Via Vision.
