Consuelo Martínez Reyes is a writer, translator, and Senior Lecturer in Spanish and Latin American Studies at Macquarie University. Her work centres on the representation of gender, sexuality, and national sentiments in Hispanic Caribbean cinema and literature. Her book, Queer Women in the Hispanic Caribbean (Palgrave 2026), considers the apparent invisibility of lesbianism throughout the literary and cinematic history of the Hispanic Caribbean. She is also the editor and translator of Not the Time to Stay: The Unpublished Plays of Victor Fragoso (2018) and author of the short story collection En blanco (2018), published in English as Blank Canvases (2021). Her articles have appeared in the Journal of Lesbian Studies and Revista de Crítica Literaria Latinoamericana, among others.
