Colin Tyler is the Associate Dean (Research and Enterprise) in the Hull University Business School, where is he also Professor of Social and Political Thought and Director of the Centre for Idealism and the New Liberalism. Colin is Co-Director of The Collingwood Society, a (scholarly, non-profit) Community Interest Company dedicated to the dissemination and preservation of Collingwood's papers and legacy. He has taught previously at University College London and the University of York. He has been a Visiting Professor at Wake Forest University, USA and Yokohama National University. He has lectured around the world, including in France, Italy, Japan, Poland and the USA, as well as having been a Visiting Scholar at St John’s, Oxford. Colin's research interests centre on: applied ethics; British idealism and the New Liberalism; common good politics; history of social and political thought, specialising in nineteenth-century and twentieth-century British; social economics and critical political economy; and contemporary political theory, especially identity politics and multiculturalism. He has published more than 80 articles, books and book chapters, as well as editing The International Journal of Social Economics (2010-15). His most recent book is entitled Common Good Politics: British idealism and social justice in the contemporary world (Palgrave 2017). Colin is a Fellow of both the Academy of Social Science and the Royal Historical Society, as well as being a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
